ABORTION & CHENEY AND PRAY FOR RAIN
Looks like South Dakota has a bill before the state legislature out-lawing ALL abortion. As a practical matter, this may not mean much as there may well not be one doctor performing abortions in the state as of now, anyway.
It surely gives cover, though, to Justice Anthony Kennedy to vote to support the late-term abortion ban, overruling the appeals court 5-4. Let's just hope BREYER'S dissent in this is not only technical but balls-out. Sez here that when the official challenge to Roe comes via SD case, Roe stands 5-4 or 6-3 with either or both Roberts and Kennedy voting to affirm.
Been having a long torturous exchange on another blog with regard to President Hugo Chavez's use of the term "chica" in reference to Condoleeza Rice and his suggest that she...quiza, no estaba follando suficientemente...Kelso said this a little nicer on the other blog, but: "Fuck Identity Politics"; Condoleeza Rice is a liar and a murderer. Hugo Chavez is a sexist. Kelso is only as sexist as your average guy, but trust him on this, women: HUGO CHAVEZ AND VLADIMIR ZHIRINOVSKI'S INSULTS TO CONDOLEEZA RICE ARE NOT TAKING ONE PENNY OUT OF YOUR POCKETS. Not to drag this (mostly) irrelevant issue through the mud much further, but Kelso, you completely missed my point, again. My statements had NOTHING to do with "identity politics." Quite to the contrary. It had to do with appropriate and civilized behavior by and among supposedly people who are in positions of power: heads of state and their surrogates. And it had to do with my old fashioned respect for ALL people. And I mentioned my comment superceded politics.
It was in NO WAY about political correctness. I am NOT about political correctness and you know that.
I may not be as skilled at articulating ivory-tower, wonkish arguments the way some other people do; but, I guess that's because I have a life and "blogging" is a very, very small part of that life.
Plus, this issue is a very small wrinkle in the overall scheme of things. I wish people would realize that I wasn't putting that out there equal in importance as "terrorism" or a "civil war in Iraq" ... it was just me talking about something that matters to me.
Sometimes you go too far. And I'm tired of defending myself on this. Case closed.

No guesses on the greatest female mass murderer in history? In raw numbers, Condi may have the actual lead, but the total has to be divided up amongst Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush, etc., with Rice maybe getting "credit" for 7% of the total.
She's certainly got the Stanford record cinched up but may actually trail Winnie Mandela in the Black-Woman kill tally. Kelso's going to have to revise the list and put Ol' Necklace Winnie in the #6 spot ahead of Piano Teeth because Winnie gets FULL credit though the total is in the 10,000s and not the 100,000s.
