...given that "General" Powell and "Doctor" Rice have themselves all mixed up in fights that concern my tribe and not theirs, with dire, dire consequences, would it be OK for me to mix in to the "just words?" controversy? I mean REALLY mix in. Like dragging out some old Malcolm X v MLK, Jr. & Roy Wilkins stuff? Like having a look at some of the opinions of messrs Connerly, Crouch, McWhorter, Sowell and Steele? To square the circle, maybe do some Obama/Lieberman stuff from the news archives? Or maybe put up an hilarious Sarah Silverman youtube about "having a dream"?
I dunno.
I think it's pouring high-test on the fire, so I'm disinclined. But if there's a groundswell, I'll go for it.
Meanwhile, though I have no opinion whatsoever whether McCain was doing anything with that lobbyist, I am curious as to how the Tissue Of Lies plays it from here. Do they bend over super-backwards for McCain? Or do they dig in their heels and continue to take the shine off the war-hero, figuring they've got a good press favorite in Obama in the pocket and owe him one for endorsing Clinton? Or does the plagiarism still have valence with reporters and the pro-Clinton media tide is now upon us?
Points to ponder.

Since when do you back down from pouring more fuel on the fire? I'm not as vehemently against Obama as you are, but you know I'm no fan. It's your blog, it's your opinion, and I think you've proven your street cred enough. Do what you want and don't let the bastards get you down.
No, SuziRiot, on reflection, it's not worth it. It would require too much research and the point, though subtle, would be inflammatory for no good reason. I think Obama's an empty suit and is a little too Right-Wing and religious for my tastes, but there are people of good conscience who support him. Pat Leahy, for one.
February may be Black History Month, but even though I've studied the subject and have the details at the ready, it's best to check. We'll see what happens after TX and OH and if she wins, what happens at the convention and with regard to the FL and MI delegates. If it becomes a race war a la vaina de Borges, "two bald men fighting over a comb," then I'll unbelt every piece of fancy book learnin' I have.
If anyone wants to do any homework in advance, I'd suggest reading an objective biography of Malcolm X, do some reading about Roy Wilkins and Roy Innes, about what event was taking place at the TIME Dr. King was assassinated and draw some lines between his enemy Malcolm X's late life conversion to the European labor model. Read all of the contemporary right-wing African-American pundits: Connerly, Crouch, McWhorter, Sowell and Steele. Read a Clarence Thomas biography. Read about Fredrick Douglass and George Washington Carver. Find out who Alice Mason is. Read about Paul Robeson. Listen to Billie Holiday, Josephine Baker and Nina Simone.
It's a very worthwhile topic.
