And of course why Wingnuts are dumber than fenceposts. Here's my sincere effort at "reaching across," a comment I made on an ultra-Right pro-Romney site. I even went a little overboard in my effort to "reach across the aisle." I have grave doubts, actually, about how Romney will handle foreign policy DESPITE his father having been the most prominent Republican dove during Vietnam.
"With the disclaimer that I'm a left-wing Hillary R. Clinton supporter who actually preferred Kucinich and Ron Paul, I just wanted to share my frustration with you about the nauseating anti-Romney bias in the media.
I've watched my candidate and yours take no end of ridicule and abuse, with the press unanimously gushing over Obama and McCain.
Another disclaimer: I don't live in the US anymore, but it has become clearer and clearer to me as this campaign has gone on that the most qualified Democrat is Clinton and the most qualified Republican is Romney. I am a partisan Democrat but I would not be unhappy with a Romney presidency.
I think he's the kind of candidate who brings intelligence, business, economic and financial acumen, plus a political professionalism to the table. He has by far the best grasp of the economy of any of the Repubican candidates perhaps of all candidates in the race, and having lived through a lot of heat with his father during a war quite similar to Iraq, has the knowledge of how to go forward. I have more of a traditional Democrat's point of view on Iraq, ths so-called "war n terror," etc, but I trust Romney to get it right.
One man's flip-flops are another man's FLEXIBILITY. I think he did what he felt was best for Massachusetts and is proposing now what he feels is best for the Republican Party going forward.
I don't agree with his positions, but I respect him for his many accomplishments and his toughness -- like that of H.R. Clinton -- in weathering an unending series of personal attacks on his religion. I know that things are a little different with regard to religion in the Republican Party as compared with the Dems, but the attacks on Romney for his beliefs are grotesque.
Good luck to your candidate. It's frustrating. I know."
The best I can say is that my comment drew no follow-ups. Isn't one of the complaints of the Wingnuts and the conciliators like Obama (D/R-Vichy) and Lieberman (I-I'mUglySoIHateArabs) that the left is angry and lacks manners? I think my comment was pretty fucking polite. In my understanding of what constitutes "good manners," I would as proprietor of a lightly-travelled Romney-blog at least return the favor by re-commenting "thanks for stopping by; I appreciate your being able to see it my way." Well, at least I didn't get flamed. My conclusion is that there's really no dealing with these fuckers. Mark that, no, there is a way of dealing with them. Balls out. It's not the Democratic Party we'd like it to be, but it's the one we've got. We fight until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.

Kelso, I hear what you're saying about Romney, but his current public stance on many issues and his allegiance to religion make him a bad choice for. Like I said in a prior post, I even cast a cautious eye at HRC in offering her my vote, but I'd probably look to write in a choice or choose an unknown alternate party candidate in a Romney-Obama race, and then write you a long and sincere request for assistance in moving to Panama. Is there a need for IS Auditors there? LOL.
I'm right with you, and have been saying the same to the "Kumbaya-nese" for years, but they can't hear because they have gumdrops, and lollipops in their fucking ears.
Not one Wingnut candidate has said a word about "Healing the nation," "Bipartisanship" or "Hope."
Not one.
They want war, they are war, and asking the Wingnuts,"Can't we all get along?" is equivalent to pulling down your pants, bending over your bunk, and handing your cell mate a jar of Vaseline.
How's that for a nice image?
If the John Holmes-sized dildo fits....
No follow-ups? What could the man say? Your comment was so good, it probably left him dejected and unable to post.
BTW, I love the quote, "We fight until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest." What is the source?
Oh, I don't know, Z, how about "thanks, man, I really appreciate that, especially from a left-winger like yourself"?
Source is DENIS DIDEROT.
well, as we both have experienced from another right-wing blog, if you give any hint of being "a lib" you are essentially the enemy. there ARE those of us on the left (or those of us who are left of center) who are able to intelligently dialogue in a civilized manner with these people. but most of them chose not to. and that is very unfortunate. 'wingnut' is a good term, but 'blockhead' is certainly appropriate to many them as well.
Fuck Hope. Give Us a bareknuckle dirty down in the gutter campaign any day. At least this way We, Ourselves will know the lengths the eventual president will go to get the agenda moving FORWARD. The only candidate We see out there that fits that description who will not tank the US economy with too much foolish populism is Hillary Clinton.
AXN: Velly, velly true. I remember well an olive branch I offered over there in the kiddie pool earlier this year, acknowledging their Irish heritage, saying that I thought there were two sides to the "Boss" Tweed, "Honest" John Kelly, Curley and Bulger stories and that I thought "Ivy Day In The Committee Room" was the finest piece of political fiction I'd ever read.
I was summarily told to "get the fuck off the site with your fancy elitist college bullshit."
I don't remember whether I hit them with my wallet or the fact that Ukrainian Jerry "Smith" knew where they lived! Or both. Or maybe I'd progressed beyond that sort of invective by then. I don't really remember.
PAIN: I'm only a little worried about this. HRC knows how to deal with Obama's bullshit. This was Tsongas and Perot's jiu-jitsu in 1992 against The Dog. Whatever Obama calls it, he's street-fighting, too, and is just another pol. And hardly in the top tier. Not that I NECESSARILY agree or disgree with the "workout"/rate-freeze/Brady-Bond proposal of HRC's to deal with the real estate crisis, at least she's comfortable with the concepts. Obama? Back to debating the size of the allocation for sewage treatment in Moline, son.
