One of the cleverest moves the Republicans ever made was to say "you're either with us or you're with the terrorists," a move which has effectively shut off all debate on anything and has allowed for the beggaring of the USA and the complete corruption of the democratic process. There is no way out without smashing that framework into an awful lot of little pieces.
What's wrong with this picture? Michael Vick gets 23 months in stoney lonesome for killing some dogs and is public enemy #1. George Bush lies the country into a war and is everybody's all-American. Still. With the media, I mean. Not with the people. But it hardly matters because should he declare martial law the media would hail it as a "gutsy, non poll-tested, move by a self-styled leader." Barry Bonds has been indicted for god knows what and is public enemy #1A. Oh, yeah, that's right he lied and obstructed justice. It had nothing to do with the steroids. And General Hayden did what again? Acted bravely, decisively, without any worry about political correctness. I get it. We need leaders like that to protect us from Iran, from fags, from gamblers. From Jews.

What's weird? An unnamed FEDERAL PROSECUTOR seems to absolve the three biggest contemporary White baseball stars: Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Brian Roberts.
The higher-ups at the CIA destroyed relevant evidence to any number of live federal cases. That's obstruction of justice, as will be any federal prosecutor's intervention into any follow-on cases into Clemens, Pettitte and Roberts.
If you are in the mood to write anything about the poor innocent dogs, just think about how many poor innocent civilians, including OOH-OOH the children, and dogs have been blown into red mist in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you are in the mood to write about how "at least Clemens, Pettitte and Roberts didn't lie about it; what Bonds did was much worse" think first. You hate Barry Bonds because he's the defining baseball player of his generation, he's black, but he grew up a rich kid with a rich kid's mentality. And a rich kid's education. And he's cranky. And a clinical depressive who cries a lot. That's not tolerable, is it? And fuck yourself sideways, too. Choose a side.
Choose a side. Never mind all the bullshit about being "with" the "terrorists" or against "them." Choose. Are you a fucking asshole or are you a human being? That's the only choice.
Every time you write about Barack Obama uncritically, stop and think. You are choosing a side and not the side of the angels. You are affirming some very retrograde views of race. You are choosing Bill Cosby for president. And all that means. I will also accept no comments about how "racist" I'm being, expecting that all black people hew to a Stagger Lee image. Not fucking hardly. Do Reps Jackson, Jr, Jackson-Lee, Lee, Scott, Tubbs, et. al., hew to a particularly Stagger Lee-image? Not in any way. They are more erudite than I am and you are and they don't carry Obama and Adam Nagourney's twisted Bill Cosby vision of a compliant Black America in a race-blind (ha ha ha) nation.
It's just like the crap we've read about Joe Lieberman in a post-sectarian America. Do Russ Feingold and Ron Wyden hew to the MSM version of a folkloric-dancing Tevye version of Jewish America? No, they got a little Carl Rosen in them, though it's hard to see sometimes. All American Jews are way deluded thinking they're white and that AIPAC's narrow image of Israel represents absolute reality. Most Likud voters are left of the most liberal American Jews on the issue of the settlements. Never mind your average Labour-voting, Ha'aretz-reading Tel-Aviv or Haifa student. He or she would be in Guantanamo! For -- yes -- President Bush's amusement.
Getting back to the Js, though, I don't like to use the phrase about people who aren't my blood but you know what that phrase is. I don't feel the same reservations about hitting the neo-cons hard. They are fucking concentration-camp kapos. Every single one of them.
Choose a fucking side. You're either for "us" or against "us". If you're going to be a dick, glory in being a dick but don't say you're a democrat or Democrat. MSM to be sure but fucking bloggers, too.

Apropos of nothing but giving you a chuckle, the other day I saw the following closed-captioning at the gym on CNBC: "The Fed's actions are good for Marcus. Yes, Marcus will like this a lot."

Can a woman be a "prick?" If so, I'm probably a prick. A registered Independent prick. If Bush et al are "us," I'm not "with us." If Kelso and his fans are "us," then I AM "with us." I cannot, however, say "Fuck the troops." They did not ask to be in Iraq, turning children into "red mist." I am sure there are some bad guys in the military, just as there are in any given profession. But I do believe that most of them are good guys, in a bad situation.

unfortunately, we have an all-volunteer army. so when you say they didn't "ASK" to be in iraq, i say, well, yes they did. or at least they were with the program when they joined up.
and yes, i know all about the fact that for many kids there theoretically was no "choice" because they came from impoverished backgrounds. but not all did. i see in my local papers numerous 20-somethings of decidedly middle-class backgrounds joining up because they stand with it.
i support the troops, yes, i think i do. but i don't support their decisions. they had free will you know.
and yeah, i know, this post wasn't about the troops. theoretically.

Okay, let me see if I've got this right. Do you mean I should say "fuck the troops" TO MYSELF, not to the public? Is it just to shake off the fear, that so many of us (not you and Anita, of course)feel, that to criticize the war is the same as criticizing the troops? I am constantly voicing my opposition to the war in Iraq, always quickly followed by a declaration of support for our soldiers. The "support our troops" motto has been so hyped that to do otherwise is a sure bet that nothing else you say will be heard.

Color me thick also. That is too funny. I used to read "closed captioning" commentary while at the gym, also. Every once in a while, the robot's attempts to write what was being spoken would result in a mistake that made me laugh. But nothing was as entertaining as Marcus.
