Reality Check LXVI

I know how many readers of Kelso's Nuts are also huge David Brooks fans. Like none. So, for the 100,000th time, why do you agree with David Brooks on the key issue of the day? Why do I have to pound this point home day after day after day?

No, really, why?

It is not coincidental that Brooks is in the cognitive process of giving up on Republican hopes for the Presidency, so he's picking the Republican among the Democratic candidates. Or else he knows that the only Democratic candidate who could lose to a Republican is the "Democrat" whose first instinct is always to surrender -- whether during the campaign or, god forbid, as President.

If you're not with Clinton at least over the Js, you are with David Brooks. Proud of yourselves?

Me, I'd prefer that Kucinich were viable. I'd prefer that Dodd, Edwards or Richardson were viable. "Viable," however, is nice, but "the heavy favorite" is better. That would be Clinton and I'm fine with that.

Kelso's Nuts love you

Now I'm confused you actually read Brooks? Oh I get it so you can know how the other half thinks. That's like reading the mail of prison inmates you know?

I only read Brooks when I have a reason to, but I think you've got me figured out on it. I am always amazed when I read him to think that someone at maybe the outer edge of my peer group who grew up like me Jewish in lower Manhattan could be 179.95 degrees different in all respects. Gee whiz, Fred, you're a paisan; how did that dude end up so particularly square?

If I had some of my NY friends with me I would consider having a project of doing a hit of mesc every day and taking turns reading aloud chapters of Bo Belinsky In Paradise or whatever the fuck his stupid book is called.

Brooks is pretty fucking awful, but Keller has certainly got himself an all-star team there with Brooks, Dowd, Friedman and Kristof. Luckily, Herbert, Krugman and Rich hold up their end pretty well.

No matter. I don't read the Tissue Of Lies much anymore. I LA PRENSA on newsprint, my favorite blogs, THE NATION & THE NEW YORKER online, and when either Farmacia Arrocha or Gran Morrison have them the physical copies of HARPER'S and the HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW.
