OK, THEN...YOU NO PLAY-A THE GAME, YOU NO MAKE-A THE RULES

Do your own research on Eliot Spitzer. His story is has as much to do with prostitutes as Watergate had to do with a robbery. He's a bad guy. A real fucking villain and it has nothing whatsoever to do prostitutes.

You are absolutely right. Years ago while in grad school in NY he came and presented at a luncheon, along with Dave Dinkins and a few other political heavy hitters. Mr. Dinkins, whispered to to us "That man is very dangerous and mean spirited" I never forgot that.

I bet Martha Stewart is having a good laugh since he made her his personal mission to send her prison.

And you know what else, I want to see one of these wives not stand there looking like a fool when their spouses cheat and the world finds out. I want just once for a politcal spouse to say "Hell NO you stand by you Goddamn self and take that heat"

I hope they turn up the pressure and make him resign. Put the question to him: if this wasn't you, but someone in your cabinet what would you have them do?

Isn't he a super-delegate?

you're so right kelso and lovebabz. the attached link indicates that this whole thing started out as a bribery investigation (which should surprise no one):

i can think of any number of people who would have wanted to take spitzer down, not the least being joe bruno (republican leader of the state senate) and richard grasso (former head of the NYSE).

and absolutely, these wives have just got to stop standing by their men. it's sickening.

AXN:

You know the story already, but for LOVEBABZ, the quick and dirty version of The Sheriff Of Wall Street is that his whole raison d'etre for going into politics in the first place was to make a massive personal score on the privatization of the NEW YORK RACING ASSOCIATION.

google "eliot spitzer" "father" "swindal" "NYRA" "barry k. schwartz" and read the DAILY NEWS series.

Barry Schwartz, the co-founder of Calvin Klein, was another good-guy that Spitzer ran over just for grins.

And when I say "score," I don't mean like Martha Stewart making $100k in insider-trading. Spitzer was looking for a score in the 10s of BILLIONS.

I suspect resignation is just a few days away. And yes Anita, I am sure Richard Grasso is somewhere cheering. Hey I don't wish scandal on anybody--it is painful and humiliating and sad.

Now he can use his time and talents for a much greater calling...I have no idea what that would be, but he will be ok.

Spitzer announced his resignation about a half hour ago. And, once again, his wife was standing beside him even though the flow of facts in the case suggest something is strikingly wrong in Spitzer' head.

It looks to me like he's a guy with some medication in the cabinet that he hasn't been taking as regularly as his doctor had prescribed. Some lithium, I'd say. He goes off like a manic-depressive, bi-polar, ranting, raving, power-mad lunatic.

Whereas Hillary Clinton looks like she's a five-watt bulb in the bedroom, Spitzer appears to be a more well rounded nut-job. And for him, it's not clear the most GGG of wives would have been enough. Too much rage over what he's not. I detect a guy who wished he'd had a rough street life growing up. He likes to say he grew up in the Bronx, and I think he wishes it was a Down These Mean Streets, Piri Thomas Bronx, instead of Riverdale.

He seems like a guy who's embarrassed by the fact that he's not a true city tough guy with a few scars for medals depicting his rise from the streets. That private schools and Harvard should have been some Blackboard Jungle high school and City College.

It's rare to see a politician as hated as Spitzer has become. It appears he spent the last day or so looking for support from his party. But no one was willing to defend him.

Bush may have his detractors, but no one in US politics today seems as detested by his constituents as Spitzer. His party hates him, Wall Street hates him, and his wife and her family might soon admit they hate him.

Maybe a round of electroshock therapy would help.

No argument here, N_s. My opinion based on nothing but speculation is that when his father decided that it would be just too cheesy for EMPIRE RACING (Daddy Spitzer, Steve Swindal, George Steinbrenner, and later on Little Master Spitzer) to get awarded the privatizaion of the assets of NYRA which are probably worth $10 billion for $100 million or less, the Dauphin lost interest in governing and went crazy.
